Position Description

Are you a college student who sees something missing in your current university curriculum? Do you think colleges should value and support students’ mental health—especially during the challenges of an epidemic, social unrest and racial injustice happening in the US right now? At Embodying Your Curriculum we know students, especially in this moment in history, lack adequate support. Our courses empower students and faculty to recognize the patterns in their nervous systems that bring on stress while providing the strategies needed to regulate their nervous systems and relieve anxiety. If this radical approach to higher education—that sees and values the whole student and not just a brain—resonates with you, one of our intern positions may be the right fit!

As EYC continues to grow and expand, there are now two openings available for intrepid interns on our sales + marketing and sales + leadership teams (positions are remote). At EYC, we value your creativity and ideas. We strive to make everyone an active and valuable member of our team and will always take time to incorporate your input into our planning. We also value your time and will make every effort to address and offer guidance on any areas of EYC you would like to learn more about (see Our Story below for more information on EYC).

Time Commitment

These internships offer an attractive supplemental package, a flexible schedule, exciting opportunities for leadership development, and the chance to contribute to progressive change within higher education.

Both EYC internships require a three-month commitment. We would like the internships to start in March and then run until May, but exact start dates are flexible. We require 15 hours a week, but are flexible to when and what days you work with us. All EYC work is currently taking place remotely.

Our Story

Embodying Your Curriculum offers online courses that equip faculty and students with trauma-informed pedagogies to address overwhelm during a time of unprecedented change in education. Amidst political demonstrations, racial injustice, and an international pandemic that is hitting the U.S. hard, our students and faculty are experiencing more anxiety, mental health challenges, and feelings of overwhelm than ever before. Embodying Your Curriculum is a modern, innovative approach to increasing faculty productivity and boosting student retention. It combines trauma-informed pedagogies and mental health neuroscience to teach practical solutions that will retain faculty and students, increase the value of the online and in-person classroom, and create lasting relationships with students who will feel deeply connected to the university, even as alumni.

Administrators, teachers and students all benefit when faculty know how to alleviate overwhelm, and how to use those same techniques in helping students address contemporary issues and stressors. This helps everyone in the education system improve, especially when they may have been compromised by external challenges, economic hardship, and social isolation. It also builds a resilient academic community strengthened by relationships that add value.

With decades of experience in trauma resolution, social justice education, embodied pedagogy, and teaching about racialized trauma both inside and outside the classroom, Anita Chari, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Political Science, University of Oregon, and Angelica Singh, M.A., BCST, have the experience needed to help our education system succeed.
